Rebecca Gonzalez Cifaldi is a photographer, artist, designer, graphic design historian, and educator. She was born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1969. As the daughter and granddaughter of Mexican immigrants, she spent her childhood in the suburban region of Detroit known as “Downriver.” Rebecca attended Eastern Michigan University and earned a BFA in drawing and sculpture with an art history minor and later an MA in printmaking. She went on to complete an MFA in photography at Columbia College Chicago. She has taught at Columbia College Chicago, Harold Washington City Colleges of Chicago, Washtenaw Community College, Eastern Michigan University, and at Michigan State University, presently as an Assistant Professor, non-tenure, in graphic design. Her work is in private collections and collections of Columbia College Chicago, Eastern Michigan University, and Washtenaw Community College. She currently lives in Ann Arbor with her family.
